On March 5th, 2018 the Investigation Discovery network will air a multi part series titled, ‘The Golden State Killer- It’s Not Over’ and starting on March 18,2018 HLN will air a multi part documentary about the case titled ‘Unmasking a Killer’. On February 27th, 2018 a much anticipated book about the case titled, ‘I’ll be gone in the dark’ written by the late true crime writer, Michelle McNamara will be released. On February 24th, 2018 the true crime podcast, Criminology will take a very detailed look at this entire case over 12 weekly episodes. Best of all, the spotlight on this evil man is only getting brighter as more big media projects are launching over the next several weeks. There have been several television shows and documentaries about this offender, as well as books, and podcasts about this unidentified predator. Over the last 24 months, the national media has finally taken notice of the brutality this monster bestowed upon the state of California. Up until just about two years ago, many people across the country hadn’t even heard of this violent predator, despite him being perhaps the most prolific serial offender in California history. He claimed his last victim in Irvine, California in 1986 after a 5 year hiatus dating back to 1981. During these southern California attacks, his crimes became extremely brutal, and almost everybody he attacked was murdered. Along the way, authorities believe that he killed a young military couple in Rancho Cordova.īy 1979, his attacks had moved to southern California and included stops in Ventura County, Santa Barbara County(specifically in the town of Goleta), and Orange County(with a focus on the Irvine area).
His crime spree spread to other areas of northern California, including towns like Stockton, Sam Ramon, Danville, and San Jose. Starting in 1976 in the Rancho Cordova area of Sacramento County in northern California, this man began a series of rapes and he was known locally as the East Area Rapist. And while he’s currently unidentified, his time of living in nameless anonymity may be coming to an end. From 1976 to 1986, this unidentified serial rapist and murderer was responsible for at least 50 rapes and a dozen murders all over the state of California. Can you identify the east Area Rapist / Golden State Killer? He’s been given many monikers, but one word sums him up, and that’s ‘predator’.
